My Destinations - Trichy to Velankanni, Nagapattinam, Tamil Nadu.

We (Me & Hubby) love to travel and explore things. We both love long bike rides and our first trip after Marriage was to Velankanni, We didn't plan much on our trip, we just decided all of a sudden, grabbed few things and started by 3'0 clock, we stopped 2 or 3 times in between, each time we took a fifteen to twenty minutes break, we also visited Alankudi (Guru Bhagvan Temple) on the way and finally reached Velankanni by 8'0 clock, when you check in Google it would say the distance between Trichy to Velankanni is 149.2 km, and travel time is 2 h 30  mins, actually only till Thanjavur its a four way and after crossing Thanjavur, its only a single road and it is definitely a very bumpy ride, hence it would take more than 3 hours to reach Velankanni from Trichy. Once we crossed Thiruvarur by 7.20, the road was fine and within 30 mins the sea breeze invited us, as we hadn't planned our stay, we thought we would have a look at all the hotels on the way, we found this resort named "Velankanni Lake Resort", it was filled with lights and the infrastructure was good, we opted for a Non A/C room, and they gave us a room in in the dead end of the resort for which we had to walk through the unpaved rough construction site. But the room was good, looked like a newly constructed one.

We love to roam, hence we started within 15 minutes after refreshing. We just roamed around the shops near the church went to beach, the shops weren't costly, and we bought roasted Chana (Many shops sold these I don't know the exact reason why), candles and other items. We had dinner in a roadside shop, and we saw this amazing parotta maker who was throwing parotta's and another was catching and placing in the pan, Let's name it flying parotta , i was so amazed and watched it , some other person was also equally amazed i guess, he has recorded it and posted in youtube, have a look at it @  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1R5LtAmZWmc

Next day morning we started early to the church, I was actually surprised to see people selling coconuts and garlands near the church, It isn't common to see people offering coconuts and garland to Mary mother, it felt good to view it, there isn't any religious difference in people who visit this church, In fact me actually being an Hindu, my first spiritual trip after marriage was to this church. Whole Environment was spiritual, the church was clean, good and old, they gave flowers to me while coming out, we can experience peace in this church. I was fortunate to even get blessings from a sister. There isn't much to do after our visit to Church, so we headed back to Trichy after having lunch in the resort.

Head to this church if you want to have a spiritual journey. When talking about journey, remember that if you are travelling from Trichy or Thanjavur, as I said before, it is definitely a very bumpy ride, and avoid travelling during night especially if you are a biker. I believe the road leading from other major cities would be better, and from Chennai i guess would be good because it's ECR.
