Five Drinks that Failed to Succeed in Indian Market !!!

I recently saw a post stating "Vanilla Coke is Back" and UK consumers are very happy about it, as it had been the nation's favorite coco-cola flavored drink, since its introduction in 2003. I suddenly started to wonder I haven't even seen this drink in our country (INDIA). So I Google it using the search term "Vanilla Coke India" the search results showed many Failure of Vanilla Coke posts. During my further research into this matter I was astonished to see how many Drinks have failed to impress the Indian Consumers, And here is the List of Top 5 Drinks that failed to succeed in INDIA.

5. Mountain Dew

I wont consider Mountain Dew a failure, but the drink was not positioned well in the market, the advertisement focused on extreme adventure sports which is not very popular among Indians, and thus failed to capture the attention of it's target age group between 16 and 25. This product launched in 2003 has always been behind Sprite (PepsiCo) and 7Up (Coco - Cola) in terms of sales and popularity. Actually I personally love the taste of Mountain Dew !!!

4. Jumpin

Frooti was huge hit in the market since its introduction in 1984, lured by its success Godrej introduced it's fruit drink named "Jumpin" but failed to succeed in the competitive market. Remember this tetrapack ? Nostalgic !!!

3. Clear Crystal Pepsi

During the nineties, people were very much concerned about purity, health and wellness. The main target of people were Soft drinks. Hence Pepsi immediately launched Crystal Clear Pepsi, stating it was caffeine-free, but it is shocking, Pepsi didn't realize that people who are health conscious would never choose a soft drink, and another cause for the failure was it's taste.

2. Blue Pepsi

It was introduced during the World cup in INDIA depicting Indian Cricket Team Color Blue, but it failed drastically, people hated it's color Blue, it looked like window cleaning solution, it didn't taste like Pepsi and the coloring agent was said to cause cancer.

1. Vanilla Coke

Within 10 months of its Launch Vanilla Coke was removed from shelves, Many reasons are stated for its failure, its taste, wrong campaign, premium pricing, mismatch of target groups, etc.

This List doesn't end here, many other categories of products which failed to impress Indian Consumers are on the way, Come Back for more !!!
